Having Technical Difficulties

I've noticed when I post my blog only the photo of JDQ and myself shows up.  I'm not able to display photos showing the content of the blog.  I'm just doing this one to test if I changed the setting correctly. Please ignore :)

May as well show something worthwhile if you clicked onto the blog :)

What are you Thankful for?

I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, but I have so much to be thankful for. Not only my immediate family who has been so kind and loving throughout my life but now for my own little family. Even when I have to wake at 3 am to change a diaper or when my husband has to work so late and we've already eaten dinner. I feel blessed.  Yesterday, a friend had posted this from www.moments.com.

Things that I'm Thankful For....

1. That I married a Brit who knows how to make a darn good Yorkshire pudding! This one looks like an angel (I had taken a bite before taking the photo hence the "broken wing")  :)

2. For lobster rolls on the West Coast

3. For my little Family. We may not be perfect but were perfect together. xo

4. That JDQ likes to sleep in. OK, so he wakes up around 5 or 6 in the morning for a bottle but will go back to sleep until 8:30 or 9, in our bed.

5. For having such wonderful followers and friends.
Thanks everyone!

Opening Soon! Let's take a peek....

Well this week has just flown by! And I know I promised to dedicate Fridays to fashion or family but.....
I've been so busy helping my Mum organize her garage which is taking a while since I can only do it while JDQ is sleeping. Today, poor guy only slept 30 minutes. Luckily he is asleep now.  Anyways, besides working on a garage I've been working on some projects. I've jumped on the chalkboard-drawing-bandwagon and am making signs and, soon, some floor cloths. Also I'm creating pictures using children's poems/chants or rhymes. I started with JDQ's favorite song, "I've been working on the Railroad." This one was quite simple and now I feel the projects are becoming more intricate. My goal is not only to make a beautiful piece of art for a child's room but something that they could possibly touch. Plus each artwork comes with the words so you can sing it to your child. Look for these plus board books, and holiday signs.  Stay tuned for my store on Etsy.  Here's a sneak peek at some artwork..

Maybe past the date but never to late for next year

Family Halloween

Some of you may remember in Rainingconfetti.blogspot.com, Fridays were known as Fashion Friday. While I'll keep with that tradition I'm thinking of adding Family Fridays.  Fridays will deal with anything regarding family, parenting or traditions or teaching.  I have to admit that I was inspired by a friend's Facebook post. When reading what he does with his family, his love for them always shines through and that is what I hope to bring in these posts.

I was going to call this just "Halloween around the Home" but instead I'm going to call it "Family Halloween."  These are traditions that I hope to continue as JDQ grows up.  It was important to decorate the house to share Halloween with JDQ.  I had set up the Halloween village though I have to admit that I'm wanting to put it low so he can play with it later on in his life. I also set out my collection of Nicole Sayer figures. He loves the Halloween fairy? with the glitter stars.  Also the outside was decorated with pumpkins which is what he first fell in love with.  While at the Cape, I came across a book called "This is Not a Pumpkin." He loves when I read it to him. Next I bought a tiny pumpkin, not the decorative one but these little mini pumpkins.  I set it on his activity chair or the blanket for him to explore. We also took JDQ to Orange for their Treats in the Street as well as going to the Pumpkin Patch, twice. :)  Yesterday, on top of making cookies and cupcakes (which hopefully he'll enjoy helping with later on), I carved a pumpkin in front of him. I wish I was able to take a picture of his look of amazement when I cut open the pumpkin to show him the inside. He immediately looked down at his pumpkin; thinking that his was same? And of course, he had his Halloween costume from Mia and Ta, a teddy bear.  Sooo Cute!  For his dinner, he had Halloween colored food: sweet potatoes, blueberry/peach puree (which was purple), a little of Ella's The Purple One and butternut squash with apples. Yumm!!

This is family time and I'm looking forward to many more years and to see what new traditions we can come up with.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween! Let the holidays begin
